Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) are becoming more and more popular, trying to create a better world by spreading kindness by simple actions. Basically you practice kindness to others and they, hopefully, ‘pass it on’ by being kind to someone else.
Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love. ~ Lao Tzu
Think of ways you can be kind to someone, someone you don’t even know! Smiling at a stranger could make their day, make them feel good about themselves and as smiling is contagious you could even get one back! How good would that make you feel? How else could you help someone? Another easy one is to hold the door open for someone and smile as you do it. Some people will thank you but others won’t even notice. But the more it happens, people will notice and ‘pass it on’.
Offer to babysit, mow the lawn, clean, all for just the pleasure it would give you both. When you are at the checkout, ask the person behind you if they would like to go before you especially if they only have a few items. Give up your seat on the bus/metro/train.

When you talk to someone, give them your full attention. It makes them feel better about themselves and, especially with children, it makes them feel loved.
Pick up rubbish – it doesn’t matter who dropped it – be kind to the environment! Take cakes into work for no reason. Be a friend who listens when someone is going through a bad patch. Be kind to someone you don’t like, send flowers to someone just because. Thank your parents, the bus driver, and especially the person who holds the door open for you! Praise someone, say something nice to someone. Be generous with complimemts and don’t forget to compliment yourself.
I hope I have given you some ideas for RAK Week, but remember RAKs are not just for this week, we should aim for kindness at all times.
